I found a piece that I started a few years ago when eldest was 3. Too be honest, it was one of the happiest times of my life. I had my share of problems, but I was really starting to get into what it meant to be a dad. I started to see my life through his eyes. It was one of those times that you just wish you could screw the cap on the jar and keep it just the way it is.I picked out today and thought that it was time to finish it. A couple of minor effects, and I’m done. As an artist you learn quick when things just need to be done. You can’t move to perfection in a piece no matter how hard you try. Most of the time, you just have to decide when it’s time to put a piece away or to hang it on a wall.
But, as I was looking at this piece I realized how quick things go by, and that these images are my own way to trap each moment. It also reminds me that I have to move forward, no matter how slow. I hate to sound like a sitcom, but I need to be a human-doing and not just simply being. I can’t time, or lack of it stop me from moving forward. That is my biggest hangup. I’ll never have enough time, so just get done what I can.
